Greek PM: Ireland shows us the way
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras hosted his Irish counterpart Edna Kenny in Athens on Thursday. The two leaders discussed the economic situation in Europe and crisis exit strategies.
During a joint press conference PM Samaras said that Ireland was a model for the Greek recovery. He suggested that by improving competitiveness, facilitating investment and maintaining low tax rates Greece could exit the crisis soon, such as Ireland had done.
The Irish leader spoke about taking advantage of EU funds in order to bring down youth unemployment in the EU and stressed the importance of a quick implementation of the banking union. He also praised Samaras's efforts to overcome the crisis. In his opinion the Greek leader “has changed the perception internationally of Greece and has brought a sense of stability and a sense of trust to Greek politics.”
